# Availability

> Distinguish an accessible API from an available MT5 connection.

## Check that the API responds

`GET /health/live` does not require Bearer authentication and returns `{"status":"ok"}`.
It checks the HTTP process; it does not validate your token or the broker connection.
The service's network restrictions may still apply.

## Check the MT5 connection

`GET /health/ready` requires a token with permission for this route. The API checks
MT5 and returns its response. It does not verify account ownership or guarantee
that trading is enabled or that a future order will execute.

```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
curl --fail-with-body "$API_BASE/health/ready" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MT5_API_TOKEN"
```

For `401`, check the token; for `403`, check permissions. For `502` or `503`,
see [errors and recovery](/errors). Avoid continuous polling without a delay,
as readiness queries consume your token's request allowance.
